Curriculum Overview
Readiness & Writing:
We use the Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) program to help children build essential readiness skills. Through music, movement, and hands-on activities, children develop crayon grip, letter and number recognition, correct letter/number formation, and body awareness—all in a playful, developmentally appropriate way.
Language & Literacy:
Our early literacy activities include dramatic play, singing, finger-plays, storytelling, and interactive games. Children are introduced to rhyming, early writing concepts, and a love of books through rich literature that helps build vocabulary and an understanding of how stories and print work.
Numbers & Math:
Math is explored through songs, rhymes, blocks, and manipulatives. Children engage in hands-on experiences that support counting, sorting, patterning, spatial awareness, sequencing, and problem-solving. These playful activities help make math meaningful and fun.
Religion:
Our faith is woven throughout the day through prayer, Bible stories, Catholic traditions, and teachable moments. Children learn about God’s love, how to be kind to others, and what it means to be part of a faith-filled community.
Social-Emotional Learning:
In PreK3, helping children understand and express their feelings is a key part of our day. We use stories, role play, visuals, and daily routines to support skills like sharing, turn-taking, empathy, and managing big emotions. Children learn how to be a good friend, work together, and grow in independence—all in a safe and loving environment.
